Background of the Proposer :

Dr. Mouli Madhab Ghatak did his M.B.B.S. in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in 1988 from RG Kar Medical College & Hospital & did his MD in 1996 from SSKM.
He has been exposed to several foreign Rehabilitation Centers namely Department of Cardiac Rehabilitation, Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. & Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation -
(a) University of North Carolina, USA.
(b) Johnson Rehabilitation Center, Edison, New Jersey, USA.

He has been the forerunner in introducing the concept of Rehabilitation in Calcutta with its unique multidisciplinary approach like its Western counterparts.
His journey of struggle started as ISPAR - Institute of Stroke, Paralysis & Arthritis Rehabilitation in March 2000, a humble Home rehabilitation setup in at Manicktala. To meet the increasing demand of such patients he subsequently founded Medical Rehabilitation Center, the first private rehabilitation hospital in Eastern India - a comprehensive indoor set-up complete with Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Electrotherapy, Speech therapy & Cognitive & Psychotherapy with individual specialists in each department rendering dedicated services to thousands of patients suffering from paralysis due to stroke, Brain & Spinal injury and other disability conditions.
He has been involved in lots of National & International meets with published articles and lectures, presented papers on - Stroke Rehabilitation, integrated systems of rehabilitation, etc. He has also organized "International Conference on Rheumatological & Neurological Rehabilitation" in Kolkata (first of its kind in India in Nov., 2003).

A Brief History of Dr. M.M. Ghatak

Dr. M.M. Ghatak, postgraduate holder, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, got detailed exposure in various Medical and Neuro-orthopaedic rehabilitation centers in UK and USA. He is the pioneer in the Medical Rehabilitation to popularize it and to bring the rehabilitation facilities under one roof through integrated team work and various rehabilitation setups in Kolkata. Lots of paralytic, disabled and pain stricken patients from West Bengal and Bangladesh, some other parts of Eastern India are getting the modern treatments by his earnest efforts. His journey of struggle started as ISPAR - Institute of Stroke, Paralysis & Arthritis Rehabilitation in March 2000, a humble home rehabilitation setup at Manicktala. He has given lots of interviews & published articles centering his activities in various Electronic & print media namely Anandabazar Partrika, The Telegraph, Pratidin, Hindustan Times, Bartaman, Aajkal, etc. and good number of TV interviews. Many eminent personalities including Ministers, Sportsmen, Television & Film personalities are continuously supporting & guiding him in his journey.
